ATHENA and ASAP partner on Global Fund & Gender Equality

ATHENA partnered with ASAP to convene a global women’s leadership development workshop on strengthening gender responsiveness in the structures, mechanisms and programmes of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. The workshop was the foundation stone for Women4GF — a new platform for women’s engagement and leadership in the Global Fund. Since the global workshop, ATHENA has continued to support W4GF workshops in Asia, East and Southern Africa and West and Central Africa.

The initial meeting in July 2013 brought together more than 35 individuals with extensive experience on gender equality, from over 20 countries, to focus on how the Global Fund can implement its gender equality strategy most effectively to deliver real outcomes for women and girls and to advance gender equality. You can download and read the meeting outcomes and background papers from the Women4GF site.
